Located just north of downtown Dallas in the heart of Addison, lives one of the most notable office properties in the metro area, the International Plaza. Recognized as an institutional-grade, Class A office complex, this iconic asset has been renovated to include a new outdoor space, the Lake House, settled right on the water.
Scott + Reid General Contractors led the design and construction of the Lake House, featuring a multi-level outdoor patio and entertainment area complete with an outdoor fire pit and grilling station. To complete the project, Scott + Reid called on Signature Illumination Designs for a custom lighting solution that would elevate the new building amenity and extend the hours of use.
As electrical contractors and professional lighting designers, we worked with Scott + Reid to develop an economically viable lighting solution, equipped with an advanced lighting system to illuminate the well-cherished amenities that set International Plaza apart from its competitors. To add a level of sophistication to the campus-like environment, our customized lighting plan included highlighting the distinct features of the plaza as well as increasing the safety and security of the office space.
To draw attention and gently guide guests to the Lake House, we installed neutral white LED moonlights high in the trees, as well as downlights and soft path lights to ensure the walkways are well-lit. We carefully installed LED cylinder sconces hanging from select trees to add a soft, warm glow overhead. This gentle illumination coupled with the recessed soft lights we installed on the exterior of the Lake House visually transforms the outdoor environment into an exciting evening venue. The whole lighting system is controlled by a Lutron dimming system to create a warm and inviting ambiance—perfect for relaxing after business hours and evening events.
Security lighting is an important feature we subtly included throughout our design to increase visibility and add a layer of safety for tenants working late. LED bollards were installed all throughout the plaza to provide a uniform light spread that gently creates boundaries and illuminate walkways. We installed linear tape lighting and recessed LED lighting at the base of steps and along ramps to guide employees and prospective tenants and reduce the chances for accidents or injury.
