The owners of this modern home in North Dallas were looking to add custom flair to their home in their modern, artsy neighborhood. We created a custom lighting scheme to help these homeowners bring their own style to the unique architecture of this contemporary home.
On the front of the home, we focused our efforts on complimenting the existing canned lighting in the ceiling spaces and extending the lighting out to the yard. To highlight the landscaping and create wings that accentuate the width of the home, we added uplighting on both sides of the home. This lighting technique not only creates symmetry but also highlights the texture of the stone accents.
Along the walkway, we installed recessed path lights that keep the entrance bright and work with the other lighting techniques to ensure the home’s front door is always well-lit, adding an extra layer of security and giving the homeowners peace of mind. The back-lit house address number also guarantees that guests will be able to easily locate the home when visiting for the first time.
We added sophisticated tape lighting around the floating fire pit. This technique, which also allows the homeowners to customize the color of the lighting to set the mood, creates a high-end and refined look and elevates what would otherwise be a simple space. The illumination from the tape lighting shines throughout the area, adding further depth and impacting the overall tone and style of the sitting area. This technique is one of our favorites to use to add modern, customized flair.
In the outdoor dining area, we installed precise rows of customizable canned lighting, bringing the design of the front exterior to the back and adding a fun and funky flair. In this space, we opted for subtle lighting techniques that have a strong impact by highlighting the beautiful, modern architecture.
Along the fence line, we added uplights that both provide warm illumination, but also highlight the landscaping. This technique also pulls the texture of the landscaping to the focus, creating a juxtaposition with smooth textures more prevalent throughout the space. To further the modern aesthetic of the rest of the home, we added tape lighting to the steps. This technique is a simple way to instantly elevate a space, providing both style and safety.
